SketchUp for Dummies

The founders of Sloped have read this book cover to cover, and although not exactly a thrilling page turner, it does leave you feeling confident that there are no stones left unturned when it comes to the tools and functions of SketchUp. There’s a lot to know, and it does a great job of covering everything!

Matt Donley is owner of the ‘mastersketchup’ website, and also has countless youtube videos helping those on the road to becoming SketchUp masters. He has written a book called SketchUp to LayOut, which guides you through the relationship between the two programs and how to navigate through them like a pro.

Mike Brightman - Architecture Workflow

Mike Brightman is a pioneer in model organization and creating methods for representing your SketchUp model in LayOut. He has created a plugin based on his methods (Condoc), but even if you do not use this plugin, it is worth reading his views on tagging, grouping and nesting hierarchy in order to help you use SketchUp for your entire workflow.

Nick Sonder - SketchUp & LayOut for Architecture

Nick Sonder is one of the biggest influences for many architects who have made the switch to a full SketchUp and LayOut workflow. This book details his entire process. If his system doesn’t work perfectly for you, you will still get a lot of value from studying his workflow. You can buy it as a hard copy, or Ebook.
